Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
This policy explains what information Skylet Drive collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at privacy@skyletdrive.com and we'll explain.
Information we collect
We collect the information needed to provide and secure your account, and as little beyond that as possible.
- Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and a hashed version of your password. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor collects your billing details; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Files and content. The files, folders, and file names you upload are stored so we can sync them across your devices and serve them back to you. We treat this content as private and do not analyze it for advertising.
- Usage and device data. We log technical information such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and timestamps of requests. This helps us detect abuse, troubleshoot problems, and keep the service reliable.
How we use it
We use the information above to operate the service: to authenticate you, sync and deliver your files, process payments, send service-related messages, and protect against fraud and abuse. We may use aggregated, de-identified statistics to understand overall product usage and plan improvements.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your files to build advertising profiles. We may send you occasional product updates by email; you can opt out of non-essential messages at any time.
Encryption
All connections to Skylet Drive use TLS, so your data is encrypted in transit. Files are encrypted at rest on our storage infrastructure using industry-standard AES-256. Encryption keys are managed through a hardware-backed key management system and rotated on a regular schedule.
Because we manage encryption keys to provide features like web access and password recovery, our systems can technically access stored content when required to operate the service or comply with the law. We restrict that access to a small number of authorized personnel and log it.
Data retention
We keep your files for as long as your account is active. When you delete a file, it moves to your trash and is recoverable for 30 days, after which it is permanently removed from active systems. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before they age out.
If you close your account, we delete your content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, billing and tax records) for a longer period under applicable law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage most of this directly in your account settings, or you can contact us and we'll help.
We aim to respond to verified requests within 30 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Because we don't load any third-party analytics or ad networks, there are no external trackers following you across the web from our site.
